Yes, I believe in life after death, but not in the traditional paradise/heaven/hell way. No one can know for sure, but it does not make you weak or less brave to believe that life goes on in some fashion.

Do you believe in life after death?
by Newborn ini'm not scared of death but as for most people i find it hard to accept it's just over when we die...but no-one can ever know... and i'm working on coming to terms with that.
maybe it's harder for us who's been sure of living forever in paradise?.

Why haven't you had an affair these last seven years? Is that reason still there? Do you have children? Would it complicate your divorce settlement? Would it complicate your's or the new woman's life?
Really, only you can answer these questions and you have to live with the fallout.

I would love to have a tree. I grew up with Christmas and the tree was my favorite part, even as a child. It brightens up a drab, long winter and I love the smell.
But, I have a husband who doesn't want one and grown children who are still dubs. I think they would disown me over a silly tree. Sooner or later, I'm gonna break free from this nonsense and let the chips fall where they will.
I thought about moving away, but my kids would probably visit when they had time off of work around Christmas.

Received my tract last month--How it went at the door...
by Confession inso for the first time that i am aware of it, in my twenty-six months in this house, a jw came to my door.
i ran to my office to grab the script i'd prepared to recite should a jw ever come by.
it turns out she was engaged in the tract campaign.

It was always the simple statements that people said at the doors that stuck with me. One lady said, "I used to do what you are doing." I wanted to ask why, but didn't. Made me wonder for quite a while.
"I disagree with some of your teachings." and "Some questions can't be answered." are both good responses because they are not too threatening and will cause a person to wonder later exactly what teachings or questions you were referring to.
The next step is to start researching to find out why some have left this religion. You never know who you might help.

2 years out...yet i still don't feel like doin Christmas?
by oompa inand damm i love to shop...even on black friday.
i have a feeling it is just because i have never done it and it was forbidden...but so was sex once and i jumped all over that one!
is it because i do not believe jesus was not god nor his son?

I grew up with Christmas as a child, but never celebrated it on my own as I got involved with the jws. I think that family looking forward to and enjoying the holiday together is the key. Very hard to do when your wife is still in.
I really have nothing against Christmas, but my family does and this tends to kill the joy.

Ownership of Kingdom Halls secretly turned over to Watchtower org!
by kool aid man06 inthe watchtower org.
is nothing more than a business masquerading as a religion.
the conference call this sat.

I always understood that the kingdom halls would belong to the society after the peons payed them off. They get the loans through the society, pay them interest on donated money and then turn over the title when it's payed off.
The Catholic Church is much the same. I'm not sure about other churches. Sounds like a pretty good racket to me.

how to understand 1 Cor 6:9
by Newborn ini'm not sure if i believe in the bible as god's word anymore.
while some things are very clear in there much isn't.
curious how you understand pauls words in 1cor that adulterers and men who lies with men shall not inherit gods kingdom?
-
choosing life
There are some good principles in the Bible. It was written by men though who write with the predjudices and social beliefs of the time they lived.
I cor 6:9 reflects the beliefs of Paul. He had a lot of opinions, even stated them as opinions at some times. A literal word for word interpretation of the Bibleis just not believable or factual.

I'm not too far from you, Mrs. Jones. It's freezing here too with snow flurries.
I hate winter. anyone on here that lives where the weather stays on a pretty even keel, not freezing cold or scorching hot in the summer? Would you recommend living there? Is it affordable?
